Premier League Legends celebrate change at Southerns Solicitors
Southerns was pleased to announce moving to a Limited company with trading names of Southerns Law and Southerns Solicitors following a venture which includes some of sport’s best known legends. Household Premier League names like Andy Cole, Brian Deane and Rod Wallace will all back the new venture and were on hand to celebrate the concept at a glamorous event held at the Fence Gate Lodge near Burnley.
Neil Cronin who has swapped his Managing Partner role to that of Managing Director and has teamed up with fellow lawyer, Carly Barnes and financial guru Ben Rees of Phoenix Sport & Media, said: “Carly and Ben joining us and leading the broader team will add significant strength to our leadership model and accelerate all that is good about Southerns. They will focus on looking to the future and at the wider outlook of the new firm. Essentially this will provide a beneficial function for us in a legal marketplace undergoing rapid and drastic change.”
Neil further added that: “Our team should feel great about all that we’ve accomplished in our 200 years of legal service – but we can grow further now and the sporting arena is exciting. We have a real opportunity to both build a great company for our staff to work at and provide a unique service to our clients.”
Southerns main offices are in Lancashire, while Phoenix Sport & Media Group is homed at Silverstone Innovation Centre, the home of the British Grand Prix.
Carly, a solicitor, has been appointed the first ever Chief Executive Officer for Southerns in a move signalling a commitment towards a new dedicated focus on strong management, strategy and leadership for the firm. Ben, a leading financial expert, has been appointed as the firm’s new Chief Financial Officer.
The launch event saw former Manchester United legend Andy Cole handing out a number of awards to deserving staff members. Neil added that “Our new partnership with Phoenix Sport & Media Group is an extremely exciting one. We will be helping to service their sports and entertainment client base and will be opening a new VIP, Sports and Media department. This will be headed by Carly and will see the likes of Andy, Brian and Rod as clients. We expect them to be the first of many!”
