Southerns provides advice to its clients in all areas of general legal practice. The firm works in Departments and Partners and Fee Earners specialise in certain areas of the law. It is usual for clients to see different members of the Firm depending upon the nature of the advice being given. The following pages within this section of our website give further details of the areas of the law in which we practice.

In relation to all areas of practice the Firm follows the professional code of conduct for Solicitors as set down by The Law Society. At all times the Firm will discuss with clients at the outset of any matter the cost implications of using the services of the Firm and will discuss alternative methods of funding for the advice being sought depending upon the area of law involved.

The Firm holds the Specialist Quality Mark from the Legal Services Commission in relation to both Criminal Defence Service and Community Legal Service work. ln this regard the Firm has gained Contracts to provide publicly funded services in Family, Crime, Immigration, Mental Health and Actions against the Police.

The Firm deals with certain matters on a contingency fee basis or a conditional fee basis. Southerns will discuss the question of funding at the outset of every matter.
