Adrian McDonald was tasered by a police officer during his arrest at a flat in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 2014. Mr McDonald was arrested and taken to a police van, he then became unresponsive and sadly died at the scene.
A subsequent investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has led to a referral being made to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The CPS has been requested to consider bringing charges against three officers involved in the arrest of Mr Adrian McDonald who was tasered at a flat in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The IPCC can make referrals to the CPS when their investigation indicates that a criminal offence may have been committed. It does not necessarily mean that criminal charges will follow.
